"Outer Reach" is my upcoming trio album with Brother Ruckus on drums and Gary Johnson on bass, dropping December 2025. Inspired by Sonny Rollins' "East Broadway Run Down," we're exploring the freedom and raw energy of the saxophone-bass-drums format—no chordal instrument, just three voices in constant dialogue, pushing boundaries through deep listening and trust.

Brother Ruckus, from Miami, started playing drums at two and hasn't stopped since—he's toured with Stevie Wonder, Prince, Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, and brought that whole world of jazz, neo-soul, hip-hop, and R&B into his playing. Gary Johnson holds it down on bass—deep pocket, incredible sensitivity, one of the most respected players in the Bay Area. Together, we're making music that respects where we come from while staying completely present with what's happening right now.

We recorded "Outer Reach" at Bird & Egg Studios in El Cerrito, Califonia, with producer, multi instrumentalist, engineer Nino Moschella handling the recording and mixing. The album captures the raw, spontaneous energy of the trio format—we wanted to preserve that sense of risk and immediacy you get when three musicians are completely in the moment together, no safety net.

The album features seven original compositions with Rodney Ruckus on drums, Gary Johnson on bass and myself on tenor saxophone.
